Jury selection is underway for a man accused of fatally shooting a teenage boy on the city’s east side.

Jury selection for Glenn Beard’s murder trial began Monday.

Police say Beard shot and killed 13-year-old Jarrell Tucker last summer.

Beard claimed Tucker and a friend tried to rob him but he denies killing the boy.

Shortly after Tucker’s death, Beard’s home on North Denny Street was deliberately set on fire twice.

Beard has pleaded not guilty in the case.
