Survey reveals bank checking fees hit a record high

Bank fees have been rising for the past 15 years, according to a survey by financial website Bankrate.com.

Bankrate’s 2013 Checking Survey revealed overdraft fees and out-of-network ATM costs have hit record highs.

The average overdraft charge reportedly rose 3 percent this year to $32.20. Additionally, Bankrate reported people who withdrew money from another bank’s ATM now end up paying a total fee of $4.13.
