It seems a good thing is coming to an end. Gas prices are on the rise after a brief run below $3 a gallon.

Some stations like the one at 21st and Post were still selling gas for about $2.89 a gallon Monday afternoon. By Monday night, though, prices were starting to spike to nearly $3.45 a gallon in some places. That’s pushing the overall average up in Central Indiana.

According to, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.16 Monday afternoon, but that average was at $3.26 and climbing Monday night.

It’s unclear what is causing the nearly 50-cent spike in pump prices around Indiana. If you find prices below $3, your best bet is to fill up now.
