INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Emergency crews were called to the scene of an overturned semi on the city’s southeast side Tuesday night.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on the I-465 ramp/I-74 E.
The driver of the semi was trapped underneath the steering column, and firefighters spent 30 minutes extricating him.
The driver told police that he attempted to slow for traffic that was ahead of him and he jackknifed, striking another vehicle in the process.
The man was upgraded to critical condition while en-route to Methodist Hospital.
The other vehicle that was struck by the semi had minor damage.
