The Metropolitan Development Commission approved the addition of a Whole Foods location in Broad Ripple.

The vote was 5-2 in favor of the plan. The mixed use project has been the subject of intense debate over the last few months, with supporters saying it would attract visitors and bring more money to Broad Ripple. Those who live nearby question the project’s scale and said it would affect traffic and privacy.

The decision on the project had been delayed since April.

The project still needs the approval of the City-County Council.
