Person killed, teen injured in fiery Grant Co. crash

GRANT CO., Ind. – One person dead and one person hospitalized in an early morning crash Thursday in Grant Co.

A passerby alerted police of a vehicle fire.  Upon arrival, deputies found a car fully engulfed in flames.

A 16-year-old female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and found near the crash scene.  She was transported to Lutheran Hospital for treatment of internal injuries.  Her condition is stable.

Billy Gerstorff II, of Gas City, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The investigation revealed that Gerstorff was driving at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.  The vehicle left the road, hitting a tree and tearing the car in two.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash.
