UPDATE: 10:15 AM: Police have arrested a second suspect in this case. 21-year-old Kaiyu Lao was found in the same apartment as the first suspect. Both are charged with intimidation, one suspect is also charged with additional charge of battery.
UPDATE 9:30 AM: IU Police confirm the arrest of a suspect, 18-year-old Zesen Shen. He was arrested at Tulip Tree Apartments just after 8AM.
UPDATE 9:15 AM: Police confirm six people were brought in for questioning. Two are suspects and four are acquaintances being interviewed for info about incident.
UPDATE 8AM: IU Police have given the “All Clear” – they say the suspect is still at large, but police say there is no danger to anyone on campus.
UPDATE: We have learned the victim’s injuries were not life threatening and that it was not a random attack. According to a release issued by IU police, three men got into a fight at the Tulip Tree Apartments, when one pulled a knife and slashed at another person involved. That man was taken to IU Bloomington Health Hospital.
IUPD was searching for two Asian males that ran from the scene. Officials continued to urge everyone on campus to stay inside, with doors locked, or to use caution if they had to get out, Sunday morning.
IUPD stressed that this was not a random attack and that the suspects were not feared to be roaming the campus looking for other victims.
UPDATE: IU police are now looking for more than one suspect in a stabbing on campus early Sunday morning. The call for help came in at 3:30 a.m. A male victim was stabbed at the Tulip Tree Apartments on East 10th Street. No word on a condition yet. Everyone on campus is still advised to remain inside until further notice.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (October 27, 2013) – Indiana University was on lockdown early Sunday morning as police scoured the campus looking for an armed person who attacked someone with a knife.
Leutenant Craig Monroe confirmed the incident, which apparently happened at the Tulip Tree apartments on East 10th Street.
Everyone on campus was told to seek shelter in the nearest room, lock the door and stay away from windows until given the all clear. Notifications were sent out via IU’s twitter account.
Tweets came in asking the wherabouts of the incident and whether certain locations were safe.
“All of campus should be considered in danger. Anything more specific is just speculation,” IU officals said, via twitter.
Police said anyone with information on the individual, or anyone in immediate danger should call 812-855-4111.
No word yet on the victim’s condition.
