INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–   A fire at the leasing office at a west side apartment is out and investigators are looking into what caused it.

The fire broke out at the clubhouse at The Woods at Oak Landing Apartments on Nobscot Drive, near 38th and Kessler.

Lt. Larry Tracey with the Indianapolis Fire Department said families who were walking their children to the school bus noticed the flames at 5:45 a.m.

“Really the timing was really perfect because of the kids getting ready for school and of course the parents getting the kids to the school bus so they were awake and able to see it,” said Lt. Tracey. “If it had been earlier, say one or two in the morning, and people were asleep it would have had time to really really build and establish itself to become a very big fire.”

The fire appears to have started in the attic of the building.

No one was inside at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
