INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— A robbery suspect was fatally shot by police on the city’s north side Wednesday.

The shooting occurred shortly before 11 a.m. after officers responded to the robbery at a video store near 45th Street and Keystone Avenue.

Police said the suspect robbed the store’s clerk, before fleeing the business with an undisclosed amount of money.  As the suspect exited the store, an officer ordered the suspect to get on the ground.  Police said when the suspect failed to obey the officer’s commands, a stun gun was used to subdue the suspect.

IMPD said the suspect then pointed his weapon at the officer.  Fearful for his life, the officer fired a gunshot, fatally wounding the suspect. Authorities are investigating whether the suspect fired at the officer first.
