Vincennes University lifts lockdown following search for gunman

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University was given the all clear after a campus lockdown Wednesday morning while police searched for gunman.

Campus police sent out this E-Alert at 12:39 a.m. that read: “Gunman on the Vincennes Campus. Campus is on lockdown. Police are on the scene. More information as it becomes available.”

That alert was followed by an update at 1:12 a.m.: “Vincennes Campus Police are searching for a white male in his 30s with a beard wearing a dark cap and jacket. He may be armed.”

And the all clear was given at 3:40 a.m.: “Vincennnes campus lockdown has ended. Campus buildings have been checked by police and residence halls are now open. Police investigation continues.”
