Anderson man, 25, fatally struck by car while crossing street

ANDERSON, Ind.—A 25-year-old Anderson man was killed Tuesday night while attempting to cross the street.

Police said Ronald Carter attempted to cross traffic in a non-designated crosswalk area when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Scatterfield Road. The driver, 66-year-old Nancy Rogers, told police she was traveling around 40 mph when Carter stepped out in front of her vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the area around 8:35 p.m. Officials said two Good Samaritans stopped at the scene and were administering CPR when crews arrived.

Carter was transported to St. Vincent’s Anderson Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
