Police: Man shot, crashes car, dies at hospital

INDIANAPOLIS – A shooting victim crashed after attempting to drive himself to a hospital Wednesday night on the east side, police say.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, a man called around 10 p.m. saying he’d been shot near 34th and Emerson. When officers arrived, they couldn’t find him. Police later identified him as 29-year-old Justin Cole.

A few minutes later, dispatchers received a call about a crash near I-70 and Emerson. Investigators say Cole crashed while trying to drive to the hospital.

Medics took him to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he later died.

Police discovered that the 3600 block of Lesley Ave was the scene of the shooting.

Police are still investigating the incident at this time.
