This is only the 5th time since 1989 that we have seen a high risk chance issued in the month of November

Parts of the state have just been upgraded to a high risk for severe storms for today.  The main threat will be tornadoes and high winds as a squall line develops.  This is a very dangerous situation and our hope is that you become aware of what’s going on with the weather throughout the day.  There will be many that will see hardly any severe weather.  Atmospheric conditions have developed that tell us that at least the potential for severe weather will be strong throughout the day starting later this morning into the afternoon and early evening.

According to the Storm Prediction Center (federal government) a high risk area suggests a major severe weather outbreak. You should expect a high concentration of severe weather reports and an enhanced likelihood of extreme severe for today. Today the potential will exist for more than 20 tornado reports with some possibly reaching F2 status or greater. Not everyone will see a tornado obviously but the potential is certainly there.  Please be safe and prepared.
