INDIANAPOLIS – A 19-year-old man was fatally struck Friday night, police say.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. on the north side near 38th Street and E. Fall Creek Parkway. Indianapolis Metropolitan police told Fox 59 the victim was hit by one vehicle and then struck by another while trying to cross the street. Family members identified the victim as 19-year-old Larry Howard. Members of the Ten Point Coalition arrived to comfort family members, who broke down after learning about the accident.

Friends said Howard had just dropped his girlfriend off at a bus stop before he was killed.

EMS crews pronounced him dead at the scene, police said. Both drivers are cooperating, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. One of the drivers told Fox 59 that it seemed like Howard came out of nowhere.

Southbound lanes of Fall Creek Parkway N. Dr. south of 38th Street were closed during the investigation. They reopened after 10 p.m.
