North westside shooting ends in rollover car crash, one dead

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (November 23, 2013) — One man is dead and two others injured after a shooting ended with car crash on the northwest side early Saturday morning.

Police think it all started around 3 a.m. near the Three Fountains West Apartments where investigators multiple found shell casings. Officers working in the area heard gunshots, when they arrived they found an overturned car. One person was ejected from the vehicle and he also had a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the vehicle was trying to flee the scene of the shooting when it crashed outside the apartment complex on Moller Road. They think the car hit an embankment, struck a utility pole and then flipped. Four people were in the vehicle. When police arrived they found two men outside of the car and another man near the apartment complex. Those two were taken to the hospital with injuries. The other man was no injured. Police think he may be involved and detained him.

Police said others may be involved. No suspects are in custody. Moller Road, between Pike Plaza and 46th Street was closed to traffic while investigators processed the crime scene.

Indianapolis Power and Light fixed the utility pole damaged in the crash and restored power to customers in the area by 4 a.m.
