Worker dies after being shot during attempted robbery on near east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—A construction worker has died after being shot Wednesday afternoon during an attempted robbery on the east side.

Emergency crews responded to N. Gray Street around 12:51 p.m. in reference to a person shot. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Wishard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Police said a group of suspects entered a duplex in an attempt to rob the workers inside. Three people have been detained in connection with the shooting. Police haven’t arrested anyone yet.
