Record number of stores open on Thanksgiving

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cars started pulling into the parking lot of Kmart at 4:30 a.m. Thanksgiving day. The store opens at 6 a.m. and customers couldn’t wait to get their hands on some good buys. Kmart is joining a growing list of retailers opening their doors on Thanksgiving. This year a record number of stores will offer deals on what’s being called Gray Thursday.

Kmart is offering Thanksgiving doorbusters from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. Deals include a 7 inch Android tablet for $39.99, a Nintendo 3DS for $149.99 and 60 inch TV for $588.

“Well here’s the thing about Black Friday shoppers, they get really excited and they themselves plan out where they’re going to go and how they’re going to do it and so for us we know that they want to get some shopping in early on Thanksgiving night so they can go home and get some rest for Black Friday,” said Alexandra Serra, a spokesperson for Walmart.
