HANCOCK COUNTY – The left lane of westbound Interstate 70 will be restricted this week to remove temporary concrete barrier wall used to separate counter flow traffic during construction.

This lane located at State Road 9 (Exit 104) will be restricted Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. to remove the wall.

Milestone is the contractor hired by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for the $15.2 million pavement repair and replacement project,

As part of the same contract, Milestone widened the I-70 bridges over Sugar Creek and lengthened the State Road 9 entrance ramp to westbound I-70.

The ramp is expected to remain open during the operation. The left turn lane temporarily restricted on northbound State Road 9 will also be reopened to traffic once pavement markings are complete. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers are advised to practice safe driving habits, such as following work zone speed limits, maintaining safe distances from other vehicles, and avoiding distractions. Learn of state highway restrictions and conditions ahead of time at or by calling 1-800-261-ROAD (7623).
