LAWRENCE (Dec. 3, 2013) – A person was shot on the east side and police were searching for a suspect Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim was going out to warm up his car at Jamestown Apartment Community when a man confronted him and tried to rob him. The shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m. The suspect may have been involved in an attempted robbery at Harrison Point apartments right after the shooting, investigators said.

A friend of the victim said the man’s wife heard a single gunshot and found her husband shot in the head. The man was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.

“He dropped them to the bus stop and then he comes back to here. And he turns on two cars–my van and his car that he was warming up because his wife was going to go to work, so as soon as he got out, tried to get into the van, he got shot… after that, we’re just kinda waiting to see what happens,” the friend told Fox 59.

According to the friend, the victim is 25 years old and has five children.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
