INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December. 4, 2013) – The suspect involved in a SWAT situation on the city’s northwest side surrendered Thursday morning.

IMPD was dispatched to 5008 Clarkson Drive on the report of shots fired around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.

When police arrived, they saw a white male standing on the side of a house holding what appeared to be a shotgun or rifle.

An officer ordered the man to drop the weapon, but instead he yelled something at police and ran inside the house.

SWAT Team officers and negotiators were called to the scene and setup a perimeter around the house.

Negotiators attempted to make contact with the man inside the house, but were not successful.

The SWAT Team then introduced chemical agents into the house forcing the man to surrender to police.

There were no injuries.

Detectives are now beginning their investigation.

They have a search warrant for the home to collect any potential evidence related to this incident.

The identity of the man and any preliminary charges he may face as a result of this incident will not be known until later this morning.
