Three injured in Greenfield crash, victims transported by helicopter

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (December 4, 2013) – Three males were critically injured in an accident involving two vehicles Wednesday night.

The Greenfield PD was notified of a head-on crash that occurred on State Road 9 and Chapman Dr around 11 p.m.

The crash involved two passenger vehicles – a tan 2005 Chevrolet Malibu four-door and a tan 2005 Mazda 6 four-door.

There was one person in the Malibu and two people in the Mazda

The Malibu was heading northbound on State Road 9 at the time of the crash.

The Mazda was going southbound on State Road 9 at the time of the crash.

A clear baggy of what appeared to be Marijuana was located by the front seat of the Malibu.

The use of marijuana could be a contributing factor to the crash.

Due to the severity of the crash, both drivers were asked to submit to a chemical test and results are pending at this time.

All parties involved in the crash were taken to Methodist hospital for treatment for their injuries.

The driver of the Malibu is listed in critical condition and is currently in surgery.

The two people in the Mazda are listed in serious condition and are being treated for their injuries.

The crash closed the State Road 9 for about three hours this evening.

It is still under investigation.
