Child dies after collapsing near south side bus stop

PERRY TOWNSHIP (Dec. 9, 2013) – A child has died after being found unresponsive in the snow near a south side bus stop.

Emergency crews responded to a call that came in around 7:15 a.m. in the 5000 block of Turtle Creek Court, which is south of Thompson Road and east of East Street.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a passerby saw the student collapse while walking to the bus stop and called 911. Around the same time, an Indianapolis Fire Department truck going by the scene stopped to perform CPR for several minutes. The boy was taken to St. Francis Hospital but later died.

The victim was a seventh grade student at Perry Township Schools. Investigators tell FOX59 that the boy had a previous medical condition.

The case is under investigation.
