Mulled Wine Cider

  • 3/4 C Water
  • 3/4 C Sugar
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle Edna Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer.

Cut the orange into slices and push cloves into the orange and place in the simmering water. Continue simmering for 30 minutes or until thick and syrupy. Pour in the wine, and heat until steaming but not simmering (about 5-10 minutes). Taste the wine and add more sugar and ground cinnamon if needed. Remove the orange slices. Serve hot in mugs or glasses that have been preheated in warm water (cold glasses will break). Garnish with a fresh orange slice or one from the pot.

Makes about 6 servings.
