Southeast side business destroyed after shredder machine catches fire

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 18, 2013)— A southeast side business was destroyed after the company’s industrial shredder caught fire Wednesday.

Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to All-Pro Scrap and Shearing at 1905 Lawton Avenue around 10:46 a.m.  When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and fire was seen coming out of the roof. Crews were able to contain the blaze in an hour.

Fire officials said two employees were in the building when the industrial shredder caught fire.  They were able to safely evacuate the building.

Damage is estimated at $750,000. The building and equipment is at a total loss.
