INDIANAPOLIS – Literally filled to the brim, the gym at John Marshall High School featured one of the most anticipated match-ups of the young IHSAA basketball season.

One one end was 7-1 Tech, featuring a quick lineup that includes Kentucky commit Trey Lyles. On the other, future Indiana Hoosier James Blackmon Jr and Marion, who figure to be a factor along with the Titans in Class 4A once March Madness rolls around.

Monday night, they met in the IPSAC Challenge on the East Side of Indianapolis and the featured players lived up to the hype over 32 minutes of basketball.

But in the end it was Tech that had the momentum to finish out as they improve to 7-1 on the season with the 83-67 victory over the Giants.

Lyles led the way for Tech with 29 points to go along with his 12 rebounds. Blackmon matched that number, scoring 29 points of his own but it wasn’t enough as Marion fell to 2-2 on the season.

The Giants hit the floor next at the Carroll Shootout as they travel to Homestead on December 27th while Tech returns home to face Evansville Bosse on Friday.
