The lawyer for one of the three suspects in the Richmond Hills explosion case wants a separate trial.

Ted Minch, the attorney for Bob Leonard, has filed a motion asking the judge in the case to deny the prosecution’s motion for concurrent trials.  In his motion, Minch says that trying the cases simultaneously could result in the conviction of innocent people.

Monserrate Shirley, Mark Leonard, and Bob Leonard are accused of an insurance scheme that ended up killing two neighbors in November 2012.  The trials are currently set to begin on June 16, 2014, although lawyers indicate doubt that timetable will be met.
