Ramey man dies after car crashes into pond

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ind. (December 29, 2013) –Indiana conservation officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred off of State Road 64 in Crawford County Saturday.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Crawford County Dispatch received a call from a witness who said a vehicle had left the road and entered a nearby pond.

Members of the English Fire Department responded and were able to extricate the unresponsive driver, identified as John Vausha, 62, Ramey.

Conservation officers responded along with Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and Crawford County EMS.

Vausha was airlifted to Harrison County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was performed on Sunday afternoon, and determined Vausha died as a result of cardiac arrest prior to entering the water.
