INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 2, 2014) – A man is dead after being stabbed near the Indianapolis International Airport.
The stabbing happened around 1:45 a.m. near the Hyatt Place Indianapolis Airport Hotel.
The victim has been identified as Kristopher Griner, 31, of Indianapolis.
Detectives said the stabbing happened in the hotel parking lot; the victim ran inside the hotel to get help and was not a guest there.
When officers arrived, they found Griner lying face down in the lobby with a stab wound to his neck.
Griner was rushed Eskenazi Health where he later died. Family members tell FOX59 that Griner leaves behind his daughter, Kaitlyn, and his son, Avery. His brother has set up an account to raise money for the Salvation Army’s Harbor Light in Indianapolis in his brother’s memory. The money will go to help people who’ve struggled with addiction to get their lives back on track. Donations can be made through Indiana Centra Credit Union.
Due to the snowy conditions, officers said they could not find the victim’s tracks into the hotel. There are no suspects at this time.
This is the second official homicide of 2014.
Detectives urge anyone with information about the incident to call the police at 317.327.3475 or CRIME STOPPERS at 317.262.TIPS (8477). Callers can also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
