HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (Jan. 3, 2014)-

Friday morning’s commute will likely be better for drivers who braved the treacherous conditions during Thursday’s snowstorm. The Indiana Department of Transportation was able to clear most state highways in Central Indiana by early Friday.

However, side roads and even major thoroughfares were still snowy and slick Friday morning.

In Hamilton County, a travel watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday. Roads there are considered snow-covered and hazardous.

A travel watch means drivers should only be on the roads for essential travel or emergency situations. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said emergency officials responded to several slide-offs and crashes.
