Conditions are deteriorating fast in our northern locations.  The combination of heavy snowfall and high winds is resulting in blizzard conditions.  This has resulted in a blizzard warning and it will be in effect until 7 AM.

You can see the warned area in the map at the top of this post.  The counties under a blizzard warning are represented by the color white.  This includes Cass, Grant, Miami, Wabash & White County.

Blizzard conditions will last for several hours and this will have a large impact on this area.  This will:

  • Make roads impassable in many area.  Snow emergencies are being declared in many of these counties by the local offices.
  • Whiteout conditions are expected.  Visibility will be reduced to 1/4 of a mile or less due to blowing snow.
  • The dangerously cold temperatures could lead to frost bite or hypothermia and it can occur in a matter of minutes.  The NWS specifically warns, “death will occur if precautions are not taken.”
