Winter Storm Warning Goes through 10am

Snow has come to an end for central Indiana, but the winter storm warning has been extended for many communities through 10 a.m.  We also have wind chill warnings in effect through 7 p.m. tomorrow.  Overall the city of Indianapolis officially saw 11.4 inches of snow on Sunday.  That was a one day record and the second most daily snowfall the city has ever recorded.  You can see the list of other reports that came in after 8 p.m.

Overall we remain dangerously cold and windy through Tuesday.  Wind chills are expected to bottom out at around -45 to -55 degrees both today and tomorrow.  The actual surface temperature is expected to dive to around -21 for Indianapolis on Tuesday morning.  This type of weather is dangerous with frostbite setting in within a matter of minutes for those who have exposed skin.  This is the main reason that schools will likely be closed through Tuesday.

More snow is likely from Wednesday night into Thursday.  Friday could see some light drizzle, snow or sleet depending on the temperatures and where you are.  It looks like a rainy end to the work week with rain looking likely on Saturday.
