One woman in critical condition after southside nursing home fire

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 7, 2014)– IFD says a person has suffered a significant injury during a fire on the southside.

Firefighters responded to Bethany Village Residential Care in the 3500 block of Shelby Street on a report of a fire around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

Staff came into a room, saw a fire, and extinguished it. The 82-year-old resident went into cardiac arrest and was transported to Eskenazi in critical condition.

15 people were evacuated, but the fire was under control quickly and nobody has been displaced.
