INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 7, 2014)—Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and Indianapolis Power and Light Company (IPL) officials updated residents regarding weather conditions Monday.

IPL reported more than 65,000 customers were affected by Sunday’s winter storm. As of 9:21 p.m., IPL reported 6,020 customers were without power, and 283 Duke Energy customers were without power.  Officials said heavy snow on trees and power lines is the major cause of the outages.

Due to weather conditions, IPL said restoration efforts could continue until Thursday morning.  They said a total of 275 neighboring utility workers are expected to work to restore power.

If your power is out, call 317-261-8111 to reach an IPL customer service representative. When your power is restored, you will receive an automatic message reply. Officials said the representative will not be able to tell you when your power will be restored.
