CARMEL, Ind.– It was a powerful lesson in paying it forward that no one attending service at Northview Church expected during Sunday’s service.

Pastor Steve Poe started the service by challenging all three campuses in Carmel, Fishers and Greater Lafayette to check their hearts.

“We have a hard time because we think it belongs to us but everything comes from God,” Pastor Poe said. “Everything belongs to God and everything is distributed by God. It’s our responsibility to be good stewards of what he gives us.”

To drive the lesson home, ushers passed out envelops to every adult at church. Inside was $10 to $50 each. The church passed out a total of $83,000.

“We want you to be good stewards of that money, pray about what God wants you to do with it and then do it,” said Pastor Poe.

The pastor told the congregation to be “mangers” by using the gifts, talents, resources and possessions to make a positive impact on our community and the world and to always pay it forward.
