GREENFIELD, Ind.—Several injuries and one fatality were reported after multiple crashes on at least three interstates in Greenfield, Ind. Thursday.
A fatal crash closed all lanes of Interstate 70 at mile marker 102 around 11:58 a.m.
Several other crashes involving personal injuries were reported along I-70, I-465 and I-65 in Greenfield.
Drivers are urged to use extreme caution as snow continues to fall, creating slick areas on roadways.
FOX 59 viewer Chuck Anderson sent us a photo of a Greenfield Police Department car that sustained heavy damage. Police Chief John Jester told FOX 59 the officer was on I-70 WB east of SR 9, diverting traffic due to the fatal accident. The vehicle was struck by a semi that lost control on ice. No injuries were sustained in the crash. The semi driver was issued three tickets for speeding to fast for weather conditions, failing to yield to emergency vehicle and improper license plate.
