Body found in South Belmont Avenue home being investigated as homicide

IMPD homicide detectives were called to a home on South Belmont Avenue after a body was discovered. Officers responded to the home on the 1800 block of South Belmont early Sunday morning.

Police say a woman found the body when she went to check on dogs at the address. Police and neighbors say the home was used as a dog rescue, there are no residents living at the address. At least 11 dogs are believed to have been in the home at the time.

Marion County Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson was at the scene.
