A couple of rounds of snow will be possible heading into your weekend. The best chance for snow will be north of Indianapolis. Here in the city the main threat through the weekend will be with sleet.
It appears at this point we can expect to see sleet throughout the day on Saturday with the ice potential starting early that morning. Overall we could be looking at around a half inch to three quarters of an inch of rain and sleet through the weekend with perhaps another inch of snow that would melt pretty quickly. Roads will likely be a mess on Saturday morning and it may be a little bit before road crews get the roads under control for the remainder of the day.
Before any of that gets here we get to enjoy a slightly warmer day today. Highs will hit the mid-30s today with clouds rolling in shortly after sunrise. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy to cloudy. A weak front will slide through to our north and will bring a chance for light snow to the north. Places like Kokomo and Muncie will have a far better chance of seeing some light snow than places to the south.
There are already a lot of rumblings about snow potential next week here and around the state. We do expect to see snow on Tuesday into Wednesday but at this point it is a little early to talk about specific numbers from the winter weather. I will say I have been asked about 20-30 inches and it doesn’t look like that is on the table. Overall this looks like we will be in line for more like 3-5, but don’t tell anyone I said that. Once again it is WAY too far out to make predictions and to start to throw out numbers.
