INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 9, 2014) — IMPD and SWAT took a man into custody after a five-hour standoff at an east side home, overnight.  The man is suspected in a shooting from earlier Saturday evening at a west side hotel.

Police got a tip that the man may be hiding at a house near Brookside Avenue and Rural Street. That’s northeast of downtown.

Police and SWAT staged outside the house in the 1500 block of Temple Avenue, where the man had barricaded himself in, around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

A woman who also lives there was able to get out of the house safely and is not related to the investigation.

Homicide detectives had a warrant for the suspect and police were finally able to take him into custody just after 12:30 a.m.
