AVON, Ind. (Feb. 10, 2014)– A man has been arrested in connection with abductions and sexual assaults that occurred outside an Avon Wal-Mart last week.

Avon police said Michael Parrish, 37, was arrested on kidnapping and rape charges in connection with the Feb. 6 incident. Police said Parrish abducted two women at gunpoint from the Wal-Mart parking lot and allegedly sexually assaulted both women twice. Authorities said the incidents occurred while a 3-year-old child was in the backseat.

The women were then forced to drive to their house, where Parrish tied them up, said police. Police said a man at the house was also battered and bound, before the suspect fled the home in a stolen vehicle.

Detectives said a tip they received led to the arrest of Parrish on Sunday at 4 a.m. at his Indianapolis home.

Avon police are working with other Indiana law enforcement agencies to see if he’s connected with other assaults. One police report out of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department revealed Parrish was the suspect in an attempted abduction outside Tropicana Bar on Indianapolis’ west side.

Parrish is expected to appear in court Tuesday for his initial hearing.
