Fatal crash shuts down I-70 in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, IN. (February 16, 2014) — A Fatal crash shut down I-70 in both directions early Sunday morning. The accident was first reported shortly after 3:30 a.m.

It happened near the North Little Point Road exit. Police say another driver called to report that a car had slid off the road and flipped into the median.

The interstate was shut down between US 231 and State Road 39. That’s east of  Cloverdale and west of Plainfield.

The interstate was closed for two hours while police investigated and cleared the scene. Lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m.

One person was killed in the crash. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
