CARMEL, Ind. (Feb. 19, 2014)–  Carmel Clay Schools announced Wednesday they would lengthen school days beginning in early March in order to make up school days that were canceled due to winter weather storms.

Beginning on March 6, through the end of the school year, the following will be the new scheduled hours:

  • Carmel High School    7:45 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.
  • Middle Schools           7:40 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.
  • Elementary Schools    8:03 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

An e-mail sent by school district officials read in part, “We believe the increased instructional time in March, April and May is more meaningful to our students than adding days at the end of the school year.”

Bus transportation will be adjusted to accommodate the new schedule.  The times will be available on myCCS on Feb. 28.

School officials said the third grading period will end on March 21, and report cards will be distributed on March 28.

The school year will end on Thursday, May 29, which is the original date stated on the school district’s 2013-14 school year.
