Lafayette man fatally struck in hit and run

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (February 19, 2014) – A Lafayette man was fatally struck in a hit and run accident Tuesday night.

The Lafayette PD responded to the 2200 Block of Union Street around 8:40 p.m. with reports of an injured man in the roadway.

Medical aid was called to the scene, but the male was pronounced dead after unsuccessful lifesaving efforts.

The suspect vehicle is not known but it is believed to have a broken passenger front headlight and possible damage to the hood.

Anyone with information about this accident is encouraged to call Lafayette Police Traffic Division.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending confirmation of the coroner and notification of next of kin.
