Pittsboro police officer suffers serious leg injury during pursuit

PITTSBORO, Ind. (Feb. 19, 2014) – A Pittsboro police officer suffered a serious leg injury during an early morning pursuit.

A call was made to the Pittsboro police department around 2:50 a.m. with reports of two men breaking into cars on N. Maple St.

An officer responded to the scene and located the suspects.

The suspects took off on foot, and the officer pursued them.

While the officer was chasing the suspects, he tripped on some landscaping rocks in the Deer Meadows subdivision.

The officer suffered a severe laceration to his leg and a possible broken bone.

He was transported to St. Vincent Hospital.

Additional officers were called to the scene, and one of the suspects was captured – the other is still on the loose.
