BUTLERVILLE (Feb. 20, 2014) – A man ended up in an Indianapolis hospital after a grandmother found him in her granddaughter’s bedroom.

Daniel J. Sidwell, 28, was shot in the right ankle on Saturday morning, police said. It happened at a home near Butlerville in Jennings County around 11 a.m. after Brenda Bowers found Sidwell in the bedroom of her 16-year-old granddaughter.

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, Bowers confronted Sidwell with a .22-caliber handgun and said he wasn’t welcome in the home. Bowers fired the gun, and Sidwell ran into a wooded area, police said. Investigators found him about a hundred yards away from the home. He’d been shot in the ankle.

After being treated at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, Sidwell was transferred to an Indianapolis hospital.

Police said Bowers’ granddaughter had let Sidwell into the residence.

Bowers has not been charged.
