BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Feb. 21, 2014)— The Indiana men’s basketball game against Iowa has been rescheduled for next Thursday, Feb. 27.

The Big Ten Conference announced the game will be played at Assembly Hall and tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m.

Due to the rescheduling, the Purdue/Iowa men’s basketball game originally scheduled for Saturday, March 1 will move to Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m.

The game was rescheduled after a piece of metal fell from the hall of Assembly Hall, damaging lower seats.

IU officials said the metal facing measured to be about 8 feet long and 14 inches wide. The 50-pound metal fell and damaged seats in the lower part of Section F, which is located in the northwest corner of the building.

“Both our University and outside consulting engineers have advised us—and we in turn have advised the Big Ten—that the remediation of the problems at Assembly Hall will be 100 percent complete by early next week and that Assembly Hall will be safe and ready to host Thursday’s men’s basketball game without any limitations or restrictions,” said IU Vice president and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass.

IU officials will give an update on Assembly’s Hall remediation project next Wednesday.
