Woman dies in crash on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 24, 20104) – A woman died following a crash early Monday morning on the city’s east side.

Two cars collided at the intersection of 30th and Emerson Avenue just after 3 a.m. Officers on scene said it appeared the driver of a silver Chevy four-door car was sitting at a red light at the intersection when a red sedan came up behind it without stopping, slamming into the Chevy.

The driver of the Chevy was trapped in the vehicle until rescuers got there. Crews said the 40-year-old woman died at the scene. No other information was available about the female victim.

The driver of the other car was not hurt. The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was called to the scene to assist in the ongoing investigation.
