INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 24, 2014) –A woman stuck in a backup on I-65 on the south side of Indianapolis needed medical attention after she went into labor Monday morning.

Amanda Davis and her husband, Mark, were headed to the hospital when they got stuck in the traffic after a semi crash closed all lanes just after 6 a.m.

St. Francis South hospital officials told FOX59 the couple was able to wave down a fire truck and were escorted to the hospital, where Amanda delivered a healthy, 8 pound 4 ounce baby boy, Max Alton Davis, around 10:51 a.m.

Hospital staff said the mom and baby are doing well.

The Indianapolis Fire Department said no one was injured as a result of the crash.

IFD officials said they originally believed two women were in labor, but dispatchers confirmed that there was only one.
