INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 7, 2014) — Fans of the increasingly popular food truck movement in Indianapolis, get ready: Food Truck Friday is back today!

Indianapolis Downtown Inc. kicks off its expanded Food Truck Friday look from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., now through the end of September.  Rather than just once a month, the event is expanding to every single Friday on Georgia Street near the Indiana Convention Center.

Melissa Thompson, the Georgia Street manager, said the event averaged between 500 and 1,000 people last year.  Even with up-and-down weather, she told FOX59 this year’s first Friday should do well.

“We do have about 50,000 visitors in town for the Big Ten women’s basketball championship and quite a few events happening in the convention center, so I expect a lot of walking traffic that may stop and be interested,” Thompson said.

Aside from the expansion of Food Truck Friday, Indianapolis Downtown Inc. is kicking off a new Georgia Street activity in April: Workout Wednesdays.  From 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. every Wednesday, the public will be invited to free workout sessions.
