LAWRENCE, Ind. (March 7, 2014) – A missing Nebraska beauty queen was found safe in Lawrence Thursday night.

Michaela Wells, the 2013 USA National Miss Nebraska Teen, was found around 8:20 p.m. in a residence and in good health — about 620 miles from her Nebraska home.

Before her disappearance, Wells was last seen taking the trash out at her Bellevue, Nebraska home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2. The FBI and Indiana authorities assisted in locating the girl.

Bellevue Police Chief Mark Elbert posted a statement on the department’s Facebook page that said in part:

“Our friends at the FBI were nothing short of outstanding. Our sincere appreciation to them and the local authorities in Indiana that helped seal the deal in literally just a few hours upon locking in the target. Grateful!”

Local FBI authorities declined to elaborate on how Wells made it to Indiana and whether she was traveling with someone.
