AVON – Over the past few weeks, Steve Lynch’s team hasn’t had much in the way of drama.

In their streak of ten consecutive wins, including their Sectional opener against Terre Haute North, Brownsburg has won every game except one by double digits as they built a No. 5 ranking in Class 4A heading in to the IHSAA State Tournament.

The Bulldogs would have more than enough drama in the Sectional Semifinal game against Mooresville Friday night in Avon.

Leading a majority of the fourth quarter, the Pioneers came to the brink of a victory in regulation only to watch Brownsburg tie the game late and then win it 50-47 in overtime in front of a packed house that watched one of the best games in the tournament to date.

KJ Walton had 26 points for the Bulldogs and his three-pointer to begin the overtime session gave Brownsburg a lead they would barely hold onto down the stretch to pick up a win. In fact it took a Trevor Lucas jumper with 15 seconds to go in regulation that kept the Bulldogs’ season alive.

They now advance to the Avon Sectional Championship where they will face Martinsville, who beat the host Orioles 68-56 in the second game.
